SatFennek Operations ("we", "us", or "our") sets out this Privacy Policy regarding the handling of personal information of users of the satellite tracking service "SatFennek" (the "Service").

- Observer location (latitude, longitude, altitude)
- Observation logs ("Saw it" / "Missed it" records, timestamps, max elevation, etc.)
- Comments and notes (optional)

- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Access timestamps and page view history
- Device information
- Interaction history (clicks, satellite switching, pass prediction requests, etc.)
- Session recordings (screen recordings; no personally identifiable information is included)
- Referral URLs and traffic sources
Article 2 — How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing, maintaining, and improving the Service
- User authentication and account management
- Storing and displaying observation logs
- Contributing to community data (after anonymization and aggregation)
- Sending important notices to users
- Responding to violations of our Terms of Use
- Creating and analyzing statistical data
Article 3 — Sharing with Third Parties
We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following cases:
- With your consent
- When required by law
- When necessary to protect the life, body, or property of an individual
- When particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound development of children

Article 4 — Third-Party Services
1. Authentication (Clerk)
We use Clerk, Inc. (USA) for user authentication. Your email address, name, and other authentication data are stored on Clerk's servers in the United States. Clerk holds Data Privacy Framework (DPF) certification and is compliant with GDPR.

2. Infrastructure (Cloudflare)
We use Cloudflare, Inc. for our service infrastructure. Observation records and other app data are stored on Cloudflare's global infrastructure. The location of data centers may vary depending on the origin of requests, and data may be stored outside the EU.
3. Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog, Inc. (USA) for product analytics to help improve the Service. PostHog collects the following information:
- Page views and time on page
- Clicks and interaction history (satellite switching, pass prediction, observation logging, etc.)
- Referral URLs and traffic sources
- Browser, device, and OS information
- Approximate location (country / regional level)
- Session recordings (screen recordings)
PostHog uses a cookie-free, privacy-first design and does not collect personally identifiable information. It is used in a manner compliant with GDPR.

4. Orbital data (CelesTrak)
We use CelesTrak (celestrak.org) to obtain satellite orbital data (TLE data). This data retrieval is performed server-side and no personal information is transmitted to CelesTrak.
Article 5 — Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Service uses cookies and local storage to maintain user authentication sessions. Our analytics provider (PostHog) uses a cookie-free method, and we do not perform personally identifying tracking without your consent. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may limit certain features such as authentication.
Article 6 — Location Data
The Service uses your location (latitude and longitude) to generate satellite pass predictions. Location access requires your explicit permission, and your location is only stored on our servers if you choose to save it. If you decline location access, you can enter your location manually instead.
Article 7 — Camera and Sensor Access
The AR camera feature may request access to the following device capabilities:
- Camera: Used to display the sky as a background in AR camera mode. Video captured by the camera is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Compass (orientation sensor): Used to detect which direction your phone is pointing in order to display the satellite's AR position. Sensor data is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Gyroscope and accelerometer: Used to detect your phone's tilt for elevation angle calculations. Sensor data is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
These features only operate with your explicit permission. If you decline, all other features — including the sky dome view — remain fully available.
Article 8 — Data Retention
- Account information: Deleted promptly upon account closure
- Observation logs: Deleted promptly upon account closure
- Log data: Retained for up to 90 days after collection
Article 9 — Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:
- Access: The right to request disclosure of your personal information
- Correction: The right to request correction, addition, or deletion of your personal information
- Restriction: The right to request that we stop using or erase your personal information
- Deletion: The right to request deletion of your personal information by closing your account

We comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Japan) and handle personal information appropriately.
Article 11 — Children
The Service is not available to anyone under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the Service or by email.
